Last night, on my way home from my job as a costume designer, my car broke down about half a mile from my house on a country road. Luckily I didn’t have Lyla with me, but the incident did remind me why I’m glad I purchased breakdown cover. I’m currently covered with Autoaid which gives comprehensive breakdown assistance for just over £40 annually. The only downside to this is that this cover is based on a pay and claim scheme. To clarify, you pay on the spot for your rescue or roadside assistance and then claim it back, much like you would an insurance claim. Payment is usually issued back to you within a fortnight. For nearly half the price of most other roadside assistance offering similar benefits, I think this is a competitive deal for regular road trippers.
